The second release in the exclusive Number 21 x W.D. O’Connell Whiskey Merchants collaboration series builds on the success of our first bottling, returning once again to the distinctive Madeira cask that helped define the original release.
This limited single cask whiskey is a triple-distilled Irish single malt, distilled at Great Northern Distillery in 2017 and initially matured in an ex-Bourbon cask before being re-racked in January 2023 into the very same refill ex-Madeira cask used for our first Number 21 collaboration.
Bottled at a robust 54% ABV, the whiskey delivers a rich and layered character, combining soft orchard fruits, honeyed malt sweetness, toasted oak, and the deep dried fruit influence imparted by the Madeira finish. The higher strength allows the spirit and cask influence to shine in equal measure, creating a whiskey with depth, texture, and balance.
