Created as a summer Micro Cuvée, Pique Nique brings together whiskey from five different farms, allowing the individual characteristics of each Single Farm Origin to contribute to the final expression. This approach reflects Waterford Distillery’s focus on exploring how the origin and growing conditions of Irish barley can influence the flavour and character of whiskey.
The whiskey also features maturation in French Vin Doux Naturel (VDN) casks, adding another layer of character to this unusual expression. The result is a distinctive Irish single malt with an attractive natural pink hue and a combination of sweet, fruity, malty and subtly savoury notes.
On the nose, expect aromas of malt, nougat, toffee and fresh red berries, with notes of strawberry, raspberry and cherry alongside hints of sea spray and fresh bread.
